Gummy Bears

I love creating healthy, fun snacks that Emerson will enjoy. It not only keeps me on my toes to try and get her to eat certain foods (cue the toddler food struggle) but finding creative ways to incorporate the ‘healthy’ stuff without her being forced to eat just a pile of spinach can be, well, a challenge. But a fun one at that!

Snacks are definitely a BIG thing in our house. We love little bites throughout the day from veggies and hummus to apples and nut butter, the options and favorites are endless. With that being said, if she’s anything like her Mom (which she is!) craving a sweet treat is a pretty common occurrence. As a parent I’m always so weary of ingredients as to not give her a boat-load of sugar and processed stuff so when I began experimenting to create cleaner versions of kid favorites Gummy Bears was a must-try!

I’ve been using Furtherfood products for quite some time now and I’m OBSESSED with their collagen powder for adding to smoothies, overnight oats, and baked goods. So I decided to try experimenting with their gluten-free Gelatin Powder, knowing that was a key player in gummy-type snacks. The bonus to this one is that it’s packed with collagen which is great for promoting healthy skin, strong joints and bones, muscle repair, reduce inflammation, and improve gut health. It’s kid-friendly, since it’s loaded with nutritional benefits for your growing little ones, sugar-free, and tasteless so it doesn’t effect the flavor when used in recipes. It can be added to just about anything cold to thicken- gummy snacks, smoothies, desserts and to hot beverages like coffee or soups for an added boost of nutrition.

These gummy bears are actually so easy to make and fun! Emerson loves to help squeeze the droppers to fill the molds. It’s not only a healthy snack but makes for a fun family activity, too! Both flavors are a hit in our house, they’re subtly sweet with a hit of fruity flavors like berry and orange. YUM! Make sure to check out the links in the recipe for the products used and take advantage of my discount code when you purchase the Furtherfood Gelatin (code in the recipe notes)!
