Nothing screams summer more than a burger. Truthfully though, I’ve never been a huge fan of eating a burger with all that bread. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE bread, but, I feel it sometimes takes away from all of the delicious flavors found sandwiched between. THOSE are the flavors I want to be savoring!

So, what better way than to eat a burger with all the yummy fixings in a much less messy and in a savor-each-flavor kind of way…I give to you my NEW favorite summer dish, this Easy Burger Bowl!

The BEST part of this recipe is that it can fit every burger want and need. How you ask? Well, this dish can easily be customized with your choice of protein using beef, turkey, chicken, or plant-based ground. It’s THAT easy! (Hence the name.)

Not only does this family-friendly recipe fit both your meat-loving and plant-loving crew but even the fixings are customizable. Each person can choose their add-ons just like they would for a traditional burger. You can spread out all of the toppings and have a ‘burger bar’ dinner night! (Seriously so fun.)

And, we can’t forget the MOST important addition to the burger, the sauce. THIS sauce is my go-to, flavor-packed, want-to-pour-it-over-my-life kind of sauce. It not only completes the meal but adds a yummy tangy, spicy, and a little sweet flavor boost.

Easy Burger Bowl

Yields: 4 servings

Prep time: 10 minutes

Cook time: about 15 minutes



  • Choice of protein: 1 lb ground beef, turkey, chicken, or plant-based ground.
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper


  • Mixed greens
  • Cherry tomatoes, sliced
  • Red onion, sliced thin
  • Pickles


  • 1/4 c mayo
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp sweet relish
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder



  1. Add the oil and protein of choice to a large skillet and cook over medium heat. (Note: If using ground beef, turkey, or chicken cook until brown and no longer pink. If using plant-based ground cook as directed and/or until brown.)
  2. Add the seasonings to the cooked burger and toss to combine. Shut off heat.
  3. Whisk together the sauce ingredients and set aside while you plate the salads.
  4. To plate, divide the salad ingredients evenly among four dishes or bowls.
  5. Top each with some of the burger.
  6. Finish with a drizzle of the sauce.
  7. Enjoy!

Storing: Depending on the choice of protein used burger will keep best in an airtight container in the fridge: beef (4 days), turkey or chicken (3-4 days), and plant-based ground (3 days or as directed on package). This dish will keep best with ingredients stored individually and plated together when you’re ready to enjoy.
