My Everyday Skincare Routine

As a busy mom and business owner finding time to myself especially for skin related things can be a bit, well, tricky. So, as someone who is always on a mission to make every second of my day as productive as possible I’ve made it my goal to maximize the few seconds I DO spend on my routine.

Through trial (and a lot of error) over the years I’ve come to find a handful of products that have literally turned my skin from just “okay” to “effortless”. No, I don’t spend hours a day cleansing, exfoliating, applying ten layers of serums, laying there with cucumbers over my eyes and covered in an hour long mud mask. Truthfully, as great as that all sounds, I’m lucky if I can scrape up a measly thirty seconds just applying mascara sometimes. However, over the years I’ve come to realize that just like food, what we put on our body is equally as important as what we put into it. Using clean, pronounceable ingredients really make a difference for both you and your skin. You don’t need hours upon hours of time each day or hundreds of products taking over your bathroom. If they’re the right (and real) thing just a select few will and can do the trick.

Here’s what to do:

First, the key is to try one new product at a time to see how it truly effects your skin. Over loading your gentle skin with too many new things can not only cause unwanted reactions but make it even harder to determine the effect a specific product really has. So pick one, use it for a few weeks, then try something else…

Second, establish an easy routine for yourself. Don’t make it complicated. If all you have time for is a quick cleanse to remove your day’s makeup then great! If you find yourself with an extra minute or two on one occasion apply an eye cream or a little extra moisturizer.

Third, choose a day, any day (or night), that you might spend those extra moments scrolling through social media and multi-task. Treat yourself to a face mask and do your scrolling while giving your skin an extra bit of TLC. Trust me, it’s the easiest multi-tasking you can do!

Lastly, give it time. Establishing a routine in anything doesn’t happen overnight especially one where you also aim for results. It may take time to really make it part of your day and to see a difference in your skin (if that’s what you’re aiming for). There may be days you forget to wash off your mascara or days when you just don’t have time to perfect that winged liner look and that’s okay. The more consistently you add these little steps into your day the more seamless they will begin to feel and any improvements/change will show. Mentally, you’ll feel better about it, too.

Here’s that handful of products I mentioned:

NuDerma Professional Skincare Therapy Wand by Pure Daily CareI’ve been using this wand for about 4 months now and I absolutely LOVE it! It has helped immensely with getting rid of random breakouts and lessening the appearance fine lines. It’s easy to use and comes with several attachments for all of your skin wants and needs. I also love that it only takes a max of 5 minutes per session. I incorporate this wand 2-3 times per week (or whatever I can fit into my schedule).

BeautyCounter Nourishing Cream Cleanser– This creamy cleanser is great as a light and nourishing makeup remover. I use this twice a day as a gentle cleanser to remove makeup, dirt, and oils.

BeautyCounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel– This gentle peel is perfect for any skin type. I apply a pump or two before bed a couple of times a week and wake up with smooth, more radiant skin. It’s like an effortless exfoliator! It’s great for diminishing fine lines, too.

BeautyCounter #1 Brightening Facial Oil– This light oil is perfect as an everyday moisturizer. It absorbs quickly and applies well under makeup. I love that it gives you a glowing, more radiant complexion instantly. I use this one daily- I’m obsessed!

Jane Iredale Pressed Powder– This mineral based full coverage powder has been my go-to for years. I love the fact that it offers the coverage level of your choice, lasts all day, and never feels “heavy” even in the heat.

Thrive Causmetics Liquid Lash Extensions– This is my favorite mascara EVER. This vegan mascara combines plant extracts + fiber technology to create dramatic, long lashes while promoting hair growth. I wear this all day without any flaking.

Thrive Causmetics Instant Brow Fix Gel– I’m usually in too much of a rush to be bothered with my brows so this tinted gel is the perfect solution. Using semi-permanent micro-pigments this smudge proof gel fills in my light brows and lasts for 24 hours. Over time the pigments also tint your brows for a microblading-like effect without the needles.

Maybelline Total Temptation Eyebrow Definer Pencil – If I do feel like a bit more on my brows I use this retractable pencil prior to the gel but could be worn alone as well. The angled tip makes applying the color easy and gives a very natural effect (no harsh lines). It also has a spoolie brush on the opposite end to help blend the color afterward. Not to mention it’s less than $6!

BeautyCounter Peppermint Lip Conditioner– I love the smell of this lip conditioner. It applies so smoothly and offers the perfect amount of moisture. I carry it in my purse for a quick on-the-go lip drink.

CounterSun Mineral Sunscreen– SPF’s can be a touchy subject with its ingredient list but this product is as clean as it gets. With an SPF 30 and easy application it is a perfect safe skin practice for the whole family. It even comes in a stick version, which I toss in my purse in case we need it in a pinch.

Primally Pure Plumping MaskI came across this company on Instagram and was drawn in by the concept of using “real, recognizable ingredients”. The plumping mask is the perfect addition to my routine. Although I don’t have time to throw on a mask nearly enough I love how you literally see and feel the effects after only one use. So the pressure is off for me to have to use this product a million times to see the results.
